Dear Neighbors,

Thank you, once again, for your interest in LOCAL Control and our efforts to ensure that Valley residents have current and accurate information about the state of the septic-to-sewer project for Los Olivos.

I reach out today to touch base about three topics:

  1. The next general meeting of the Los Olivos Community Services District (“CSD”) is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11,and is to be held both in person at St. Mark’s Church and online!  We hope to see you there!

  2. Santa Barbara County Supervisor Joan Hartmann is the local elected official for the Valley.  In addition to contacting the CSD Board with any questions or comments you might have about the planned sewer system and sewage treatment plant, you can also share your views with Supervisor Hartmann, who ran on a platform of preserving our small towns and agricultural resources and may not have full and accurate information about the CSD’s shift from the Local Phased Approach officially adopted in 2019, to the significantly larger “whole district” plan the CSD is now pursuing.

  3. LOCAL Control needs your input.  In an effort to organize and share information that we be most relevant and helpful to community members, LOCAL Control would like to hear from as many community members as possible about your area(s) of greatest concern or topics about which you want more information, e.g., the expansionof the planned sewer system (and any associated costs and disruption); the urban sprawl that an expanded project invites by providing infrastructure of support density and development; the location of the planned sewage treatment facility; the size of sewage treatment plant the CSD has begun planning to build; potential health hazards posed by a larger, above-ground sewage plant; the extent of the CSD’s efforts to share information with community members.  Please email your thoughts to admin@localcontrol4losolivos.org or, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can mail them to LOCAL Control, P.O. Box 142, Los Olivos, CA  93441.  Although LOCAL Control has received threatening and ugly messages from some corners of our community, we want to continue to foster accurate and open communication.

Thank you, once again, for your interest and your engagement!
